This is a small personal blog. It collects as little as possible about you, and this page explains what little that is, along with a note on the copyright covering everything here.

What’s collected

I don’t ask you for any personal information, and there are no accounts, comments, or sign-up forms. The only data collection on the site comes from Google Analytics, and only if you allow it.

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Analytics does not run and no analytics cookies are set unless you click Accept. If you accept, Google Analytics collects standard, aggregate information — the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are (derived from your IP address, not stored as your exact address here), and basic device and browser details — to help me understand which essays people read. This data is processed by Google; see Google’s privacy policy for how they handle it.

If you decline, none of that happens. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.

Cookies and storage

Your accept/decline choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage so the banner doesn’t ask again — this is a preference, not a tracking cookie, and it never leaves your device. Google Analytics sets its own cookies only after you accept. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings, and you can install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on if you’d like to block it everywhere.

Hosting

The site is served as static files by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may process limited technical information (such as your IP address) to serve pages and protect against abuse. See the GitHub Privacy Statement for details. The RSS feed involves no tracking.
